So book your tickets (or jump all in with season passes), pack up your family and friends, and come check out the Louisville area’s water and amusement parks!
Our first attraction highlight is just 10 minutes from downtown Louisville off Highway 65. Hurricane Bay has everything you could ask for in a water park: lazy river, wave pool, surf simulator, massive slides, and a huge variety of water-themed rides. If you prefer to stay dry, Kentucky Kingdom has everything from roller coasters to free falls to bumper cars, and everything in between. There’s even a 5D cinema and Playland - an area with attractions just for younger riders.
You might expect to find the town of Santa Claus up by the north pole, but it’s actually just over an hour west of Louisville in Indiana - who knew! This magical town is home to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari. The festive name is just the beginning of the fun as this park has plentiful attractions for those who want to splash, and those who want to stay dry. The park boasts 48 rides in total and frequently hosts special events and shows!
Atlantis Water Park is another quick trip from downtown Louisville - located 10 minutes away, just across the Ohio River in neighboring Clarksville. Atlantis features a large Tsunami Sea wave pool, the Mount Olympus water slides, and King Neptune’s Cove, an area just for younger children. Pack your sunscreen, grab an inner tube, and enjoy some R&R at Atlantis Water Park!
River Run Family Water Park in New Albany is the perfect place to spend a hot summer day. Features include a wave pool, bowl slide, lazy river, toddler pool, and more. River Run is 15 minutes from Louisville and offers daily, season, and family passes. They even offer swim lessons if your family is still getting comfortable with the water. A beverage bar and concessions area round out the offerings, giving you everything you need for a day at the park.
